1. What is a Chocolate Fountain?
A chocolate fountain is the perfect centrepiece at wedding receptions, birthday parties, anniversary parties, corporate events, buffets and other special occasions where the hosts want their guests to enjoy a memorable treat. A chocolate fountain is a mechanical fountain specially designed for use as a ‘Fondue'. Liquid chocolate cascades down the tiers while guests dip fruit, marshmallows and other delicacies into the warm flowing chocolate.
2. What is a uniformed operator?
The fountain operator is your “chocolatier” for the event. He or she will set up and run the fountain, answer any questions from your guests, hand out napkins, refill skewers, replenish dipping items and generally keep the display looking great! Our chocolatiers are appropriately dressed for your occasion, in corporate clothing and are identifiable as a Chocofountain employee. They always wear food handling gloves when handling your chocolate or dipping items.
3. How do I rent a fountain?
Renting a fountain is easy. You will need to provide us with your personal details, information regarding the location, type of event and number of guests. We can help you decide which size fountain is appropriate for you, and who should provide the additional dipping items. We will even liaise with your caterer or venue to make arrangements for you. We will send you a quotation and you will be required to pay a deposit to hold the fountain for the date of your event.

4. How far in advance should I book my fountain?
Chocolate fountains are in high demand so we recommend booking as soon as you have made a decision. Call us to check availability on 0800 CHOCOF.
5. What type of chocolate is used in the fountain?
We only use finest Belgian Chocolate (Callebaut) in our fountains. These chocolates have a high cocoa butter content that makes them flow smoothly. Cheaper chocolates would have to be mixed with light cooking oil to achieve the correct liquidity. This is not something that we are prepared to do!

6. How is the chocolate melted?
There are 3 main options. The chocolate can be melted with a double boiler (our adopted method), in a microwave oven (risk burning) or in the fountain itself (slow). A double boiler also tempers the chocolate ensuring that it retains a lovely glossy finish.
7. How long does it take you to set up?
We will arrive at your event approximately one hour before it begins. We will do our best to be as discreet as possible while setting up.

8. Who provides the foods for dipping?
9. What are the most popular dipping items?
This depends on the location of the event. Chocofountain is happy to provide your choice of dipping items. We can create a beautifully displayed table with your choice of fresh items and they will be continuously replenished throughout the event. However, you may choose to have your hotel or caterer provide these items. We will do our best to work with your caterer in these cases to ensure you get the service you deserve. Popular dipping items include strawberries, pineapples, banana, marshmallows and cookies. See our list of dipping delicacies or use your imagination!
10. What do I need my venue to provide?
You will need your facility to provide a sturdy table with linens and two electrical sockets within 3m of the table. We provide the wooden skewers, napkins, chocolate and marshmallows as outlined in our rental packages. If we are supplying the dippers, we will also provide the serving platters.
11. What power supply does the fountain require?
Two standard domestic electrical sockets within 3m of the table.
Go on…take your senses for a dip!
